Uneven rows and pipe characters, handled
Two things quietly break hand-written Markdown tables: rows with a different number of columns than the header (common when pasting from a spreadsheet with trailing blanks), and cell content that itself contains a | character, which Markdown would otherwise read as a new column boundary. This generator pads every row to match the widest one and automatically escapes literal pipes as \|, so the output always renders as a clean grid.
Frequently asked questions
Why does pasted data sometimes break the table formatting?
Commas inside a cell's own content (in comma-separated input) can be mistaken for column separators, and unescaped pipe characters (|) inside Markdown table cells need to be escaped, since | is the table's own column delimiter.
