Concrete Calculator

Volume of concrete and number of bags needed for a slab, based on length, width, and depth.

Every calculation runs locally in your browser. Bag yield varies by mix and bag weight — check the figure printed on your specific product for the most accurate result.

Why depth is the number that catches people out

Volume scales linearly with depth, so doubling a slab's thickness doubles the concrete needed — an easy detail to underestimate when depth is measured in centimeters but length and width are measured in meters. This converts depth to meters before multiplying, then converts the whole volume to liters, since bag yield is almost always printed in liters rather than cubic meters.

Frequently asked questions

How is concrete volume converted to number of bags?

Bagged concrete mix lists its yield (the volume of wet concrete one bag produces) on the packaging — this calculator divides your total required volume by that per-bag yield to get a bag count, so check your specific product's stated yield for accuracy.
