Calories Burned Calculator
Calories burned across 15 common activities, based on your weight and duration.
Based on standard MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values — a population-average estimate. Real calorie burn varies with individual fitness, terrain, and effort, and this isn't medical advice.

What a MET value actually measures
A MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) compares an activity's energy cost to resting: sitting quietly is 1 MET, and an activity rated 8 MET burns roughly 8 times your resting rate. Because 1 MET is defined as approximately 1 kcal per kilogram of body weight per hour, multiplying an activity's MET value by your weight and the time spent gives a reasonable estimate — heavier bodies and longer durations both burn proportionally more, which matches how energy expenditure actually scales.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate are activity-based calorie estimates?
They're estimates based on published MET (metabolic equivalent) values for each activity, applied to your body weight — actual calories burned vary with intensity, fitness level, and individual metabolism, so treat this as a reasonable approximation, not a precise measurement.
Why does the same activity burn different calories for different people?
Heavier bodies expend more energy performing the same movement — calorie burn scales with body weight, which is why this calculator asks for your weight before estimating a given activity.
